Singapore was also ranked by the Mercer 2011 Quality of Living Survey as the top Asian country for its quality of life. Global talent are attracted to Singapore’s meritocratic society that embraces diversity, and a high quality of life in a cosmopolitan environment.
The Data Storage Institute (DSI), a member of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore, has a mission to establish Singapore as an R&D centre of excellence in data storage technologies. The research institute’s vision is to be a vital node in a global community of knowledge generation and innovation, nurturing research talents and capabilities for world-class R&D in next generation storage technologies.
With a team of highly qualified researchers behind DSI’s state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, DSI has pushed the boundaries of both basic and applied research since its establishment in 1992; DSI has since been well-positioned to lead and support the growth of the data storage industry through its research.
DSI continues to combine its expertise and resources across disciplines to engineer data storage breakthroughs beneficial to the storage community. These efforts are consolidated under DSI’s main research thrusts:
-
Data centre technologies
-
Next generation Non-Volatile Memories (NVM)
-
Hard disk drive technologies
-
Advanced concepts and nanotechnology
