Biografilm Festival in Bologna

 How fortunate I am!

– I had the honor and pleasure of being the President of the Biografilm Festival jury in Bologna, Italy recently.  A BIG hats off to Andrea Romeo, the Director and creator of this fine festival and his staff for creating a place for audiences of all ages to come together to be inspired by different cultures and life stories – says Cass Warner.

My incredibly fun, fellow jurors and I gave the following recognition to some brilliant documentaries, which I highly recommend:

AMERICAN: THE BILL HICKS STORY was given “The Best Film Award” for the importance of preserving the freedom of speech in a world which progresses towards more uniform thinking and political correctness.  Not only does Bill Hicks brilliantly and corrosively voice his insights and disagreements against the mainstream, but, in addition, the visual style of the movie beautifully helps reinforce our understanding of his journey.

MARWENCOL received “The Best Life Award” for its remarkable evocation of Mark’s struggle to find his inner self so brutally damaged by the senseless attack by men blinded by their hatred of difference.  The film wonderfully celebrates the ability of the soul to self heal and survive, as well as the immortality of the creative spirit. THE PARKING LOT MOVIE was given the “Jury Special Mention” for its wonderful originality and insight.  It transforms normally unseen people from an inhuman place into the key protagonists of the theater of life.

To Life & Lives!

 Cass Warner
