Wine for Hanukkah

The Golan Heights Winery is proud to present: Mount Hermon Moscato 2013. The first wine of the 2013 vintage and the newest member of the popular Mount Hermon series of wines

The Mount Hermon Moscato 2013 is a light sparkling wine with a low alcohol level and pleasant sweetness. The wine was created uniquely from Muscat Canali grapes, the first varietal to ripen and be harvested from the Golan Heights’ vineyards.

Hanukkah 2013, the Festival of Lights, begins at sunset on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, and ends in the evening of Thursday, December 5. It commemorates the victory of the Israelites over the Syrian Greek armies, and the miracle of restoring the menorah in the Holy Temple. Only one vial of oil was found, enough for one day, and yet it lasted for eight days.

Moscato is indeed the only wine that reaches the market during the harvest period, which is currently at its culmination.

The wine undergoes a short, cold fermentation allowing it to develop its
lightly sparkling character. It has a naturally low alcohol concentration and a delightful aromatic quality.
The Mount Hermon Moscato 2013 joins the 2012 vintage of Mount Hermon wines which have quickly became bestsellers in Israel and abroad. The Mount Hermon Red and White have become synonymous with the Israeli wine success story which is a classic tale of triumphing in the face of adversity, celebrated in the landscape and produce of the Golan Heights Winery. The Mount Hermon Indigo was launched last year as the newest member of the Mount Hermon series and it sold out within a few months. The series is building on this success and expanding to include the Mount Hermon Moscato 2013 which is the series’ first desert wine. Perfect to drink with friends, this fun wine makes the perfect end to a dinner party or festive brunch. The Mount Hermon Moscato 2013 is suitable to be drunk immediately or up to 18 months from the time of harvest. It is a deliciously aromatic wine combining aromas of pineapple, apricot, tangerine and lime, with notes of
honeysuckle, jasmine and spice. Usually drunk with dessert, the wine can also be drunk alone as an aperitif. Try the Mount Hermon Moscato with a seasonal fruit crumble served with a rich vanilla ice cream topped with a fresh fruit salad.

Hanukkah
The Jews all around the world celebrate Hanukkah at home by lighting the menorah each night, playing dreidel, and eating special Hanukkah foods. Many of them is deep-fried in oil to symbolize the oil from the Temple menorah. These include latkes, or potato pancakes, and jelly doughnuts. Many also make the Sephardic delicacy bimuelos and, of course, applesauce as a topping. Some people also sing Hanukkah songs or exchange gifts.
